I am resigned to this Thy inscrutable scheme
However bleak and bare it may seem,
For all known levers I have perforce toggled
And each one has only left me more baffled.
All my parts only hold a minimal semblance,
Will, mind and heart all in bare attendance;
Intent, thought and feeling all in passing
A banner of inconsequence are waving.
Neither the world nor I can anything claim
From this being given solely to Thy aim,
To what end is then revolt and rebellion
For in all frames Thou alone art champion.
The time-born me yet seeks a last boon,
When I meet Thee in all forms let me not swoon.
