O Thou who lured me by shining verse
Who packed all meaning in syllables terse.
Like a firefly to Thy light I did turn
In my approach to Thee, my surface did burn.
Every tome of Thine was a world
An adventure of my soul by Thee foretold.
Every desire Thou didst from me wrench
A sordid battle fought in pit and trench.
From me my self didst Thou save
Through dire abyss a path did pave.
My being now sheds its outward sheath
Emblemed by Thee am now beyond the moth.
Dire this adventure O august Inner Guide
These again I shall endure with Thee by my side.
